I have read elsewhere that iMovie will be suitable for a novice (which I am) to start editing video. I have been considering a Panasonic HD-80 camera but some reviews suggest that getting the images from the camera on to the iMac , mine is running Lion, is very difficult.
Will iMovie be able to do this? Remember I am a complete novice, no previous experience with video at all. Thanks. |

There should be no problems in importing from the camera into iMovie, as long as you do it correctly. Have a read of the sticky at the top of the Movies page:
Basic HowTo: Using MTS/M2TS files in FCP/FCE/iMovie |
