A friend sent me two avi files that need to be merged. The file names are ABCDEF.avi.001 and ABCDEF.avi.002

I've searched this board and google with no success. If I remove the .# and make the file just *.avi, I can open file #1 but #2 won't play. I get a message that it's an unrecognized format.

I've tried about 3 or 4 programs listed on this site but have yet to achieve success.

I'm using lion with the latest updates and have a Macbook pro that is about 4 months old.

Any advice is appreciated.

thanks

What programs have you tried?
FFMPEGX is the only one that I know that will stitch them sucessfully, but I am not sure if it works in Lion. It's fine in Snow Leopard though.

FFMPEGX was updated *specifically* (first time in years) to make it compatible with Lion. It's now at version 0.0.9y-L.
