How to set VLC as default movie player??

I have downloaded VLC as I think its better than Qtime, any ideas how I set it as my default player rather than Qtime on the mac, sorry new user....appreciate the help!!

Find a quicktime file and control click it. Select get info, where it says open with change that to VLC and then click change all

Theres a free preference pane called "default apps" for setting defaults.
