Apple DVD Player can't find external DVD drive

i have recently purchased a LACIE External DVD Drive for my G4 Power Mac, however, when I put a DVD in to play it the DVD Player program gives me an error saying: There was an initialisation error A valid DVD drive could not be found (-70012) Does anyone know how I can intialise my drive so that I can watch DVDs? I have installed the Toast software that came with the drive, but that is only for burning dvds. Any help would be appreciated

Download it at www.patchburn.de and follow the instructions. This will also enable burn in iTunes, the Finder, iPhoto & iDVD. |

It isn't giving the DVD drive as an option? Is there somewhere I can add it to the hardware list? ugh.. is it supposed to be this difficult? |
