Conveniently comparing single video frames side-by-side?

I'm looking for a convenient method of viewing video frames. iMovie is able to skip back/forwards one frame at a time, but for my work, it would be a lot better to be able to view several successive frames on-screen at the same time. Do you guys know of a piece of software able to do that?
