I have an iBook G4. I know it's old and I need a new mac but before I can buy one, I need to download video from a camcorder to my machine. The problem is I can't find the proper software to capture the video from the camera. QuickTime basic doesn't give me the option. My machine won't support QuickTime Pro. Are there any other options out there?

iMovie? I've never used it but isn't it designed to capture and edit video? What type of camera is it? Does it have firewire?

I know you can easily capture it using Final Cut Pro or Express if it has firewire. I would think iMovie does that as well. Hm... does iMovie only come with iLife? I don't know...

If so, and you don't want to spend any money and you have a DVD-R AND it's okay for you to go to DVD quality video, you can dub from your camera to the DVD-R and then rip your DVD on the Mac.
