Hi All,

After using PC's only for the past 15 years I recently made the switch from PC to Mac and purchased the new iMac 27" (Friday to be exact) so please go easy on me.
I am having trouble with my Sony camcorder (or at least the conversion of AVCHD files).
iMovie does not recognise .M2TS files so after searching the net for solutions I bought Roxio Toast 10
The Sony camcorder is the HDR-SR10 and everything is fine in terms of compatibility but when I convert the files with toast and play the new MPEG4 files they look choppy (any movement like someone skiing looks choppy and poor). I made sure to set the conversion to the highest quality in toast but I am not happy with the quality.
I am sure I am doing things wrong or using the wrong program or other so any help is appreciated.

welshred.

Have you tried starting iMovie, then connecting the camcoder, then hitting the camera icon (middle of the screen on the left) to import?

Hi,

Thanks for the replies, I did as you suggested (mrplow) and it worked. These are now importing this way (silly me). I hope toast comes in handy or I have wasted my money lol.
Once my videos have imported I will report back here to confirm if all is well.
