I've tried TDK, Verbatim and JVC without success, there must be a brand that works with my iMac! The drive I use is as follows:

MAT****A DVD-R UJ-875:

Firmware Revision: DB09
Interconnect: ATAPI
Burn Support: Yes (Apple Shipping Drive)
Cache: 2048 KB
Reads DVD: Yes
CD-Write: -R, -RW
DVD-Write: -R, -R DL, -RW, +R, +R DL, +RW
Write Strategies: CD-TAO, CD-SAO, DVD-DAO
Media: Insert media and refresh to show available burn speeds
Thanks in advance!
Cheers,
DB

The only DL discs discs I have had success with are Imation, and a specific one too. I also have the same drive as you.
These are the ones I tried (the review is mine ):

Imation DVD+R Dual Layer 2.4x Speed Slim 8.5GB 10 Pack: Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories

Splendid-thank you very much. What a fiasco that the burner is SO picky!

Agreed, but DL burning is something of a dark art anyway, it really depends on what you are trying to burn.
