Beginner question here: I have some clips shot on a Canon XF300 that I am trying to get into Final Cut Pro for editing (.mxf file format). I have installed the plug-in that came with the camera, but have been unable to get the clips into the editing program. Can somebody familiar with this plug-in and format please give me the step by step instructions to get this done?
Thanks.

A disc came with the camera (Canon XF300). I just did the auto-load with it, so other than that don't really know anything about it. It gave a choice of plug-in for Final Cut Pro (Mac) or Avid (Windows). I know that Mac likes to change everything into Quicktime, but not sure how the process on this one works.

You almost always have to convert to an intermediary.

Or try this: Plug-Ins for QuickTime

Don't hate Windows. Just use Parallels! Best of both worlds!
