Hi

I had to move some mov files to a external drive while I did a cleanup on my MacBook. When I returned them to iPhoto, there are some of the mov files that are now saying they are 1 second long and I cant actually open them up. Its as if they are now just a photo image when I open the file. The majority of the files open up fine. I am using Quicktime Player V10. Im not sure if this is any help, but the file has been renamed "Photo - 9250.mov". Do you think the files are corrupt? Do you have any suggestions on where I should start?
QUOTE Thanks

Yes i tried to import but with no luck. What i have found is that file that works fine in Quicktime is saved as "pic_****.mov" (where **** is a 4 digit number). I cant locate in my mac or external drive the files that im looking for, but only the one second still image thats renamed at "photo - xxxx.mov". I am fearing that i have lost the working mov file totally. Any other suggestions?

well it sounds a lot like its been corrupted during the move. but something i would try:

try re-encoding them to a different format with something like

Squared 5 - MPEG Streamclip video converter for Mac OS X

or

HandBrake

no guarantee this will work, and it will take a long time.
