Panasonic NV-Gs11 iMovie Connection Issue

I have a Panasonic NV-GS11 and I am connecting it to my iMac Intel Core i5 via usb. When I open iMovie the only camera that iMovie detects is the in built webcam. I want to transfer my video footage from the dv in the camera to i movie.

Can someone PLEASE HELP....

You can only import from a MiniDV camcorder using Firewire, so you'll need one of these, assuming that your iMac has Firewire 800.
