I have a MacBook Pro and recently purchased a Sony HDR-XR350V camcorder (without doing my homework). I need to know if there is some type of software that will convert "AVF_INFO" folders (containing .bnp, .inp, and .int files) to some file format that is compatible with iMovie 8.6.

The specs say it records AVCHD video. What have you tried so far? Have you tried hooking the camera to your Mac and then opening iMovie to see if it can import direct from the camera?

i have a sony 550v and have no trouble hooking it up directly to my 3 year old iMac and downloading in iMovie '09. the camera is recognized and starts the download. perhaps it could be the version of iMovie you have. I am not familiar with the version you said you have. perhaps it does not play well with the high def flash based memory cams.

Although he said 8.6, I'm pretty sure he meant 8.0.6 which is iMovie 09.

AVF_INFO? That's just the info folder.
The camera should be recording .m2ts files, and those contain video data.
