I understand how to use a green screen to change a background...but what about a single area...for instance...say I wanted to hold a 'green' sign...that I could replace with multiple pictures and movies.... Is there a way to concentrate the 'green' replacement?

Sorry if I didn't explain it too well, it's hard to write.

Which software? iMovie, I doubt it.

It wouldn't be too bad in FCE as you can size and move video in the layers behind the main video that would have the green sign.

FCS would probably be easier to do with Motion.

My Macs: Late 2013 rMBP w/ 750m; Mac mini G4, 1.25 GHz, 512m ram (server); Late 2011 11" MBA, 1.8GHz i7, 4Gig Ram, 256Gig SSD, HD3000; Powerbook 12" G4 1.33GHz running Debian as a server; Apple TV (1080p version)

FCE is Final Cut Express which is the low cost version of Final Cut Pro.

FCS is Final Cut Studio.

Motion is another Apple product I believe comes with FCS.

Apple - Final Cut Studio - Motion 4

It does have green screen, but with what he's talking about - which seems to be reducing the size of the and changing the position of the layers behind the green screen area (including potentially moving and skewing if he were to angle the sign) - I believe is outside the capability of iMovie.

Stationary green screen and non-shifting background would be easy with iMovie - (stationary large green screen is what's covered in that tutorial link - even when they were goofing around with the sheet at the end making themselves "vanish" into the background, the background itself was still fixed). I'm not saying it's impossible to do a small sign, just that I doubt it's capable of handling the resize/relocate/and move the video around if necessary if the sign is moved.

Very valid and accurate point funfullness - if the green screen doesn't have consistent and quality lighting the effect will not go well
