Are There Ways To Rip Another Region's DVDs?

I'm in North America (region 1) and I want to buy some DVDs that are only available in the UK (region 2). I know that VLC works for viewing these DVDs on a Mac, but what about ripping them?

This is very important to me, and any help would be greatly appreciated!

Unfortunately breaking the encryption found on practically all commercial DVDs is illegal in the U.S. where this forum is located. Therefore:
