Can't Import Video Into IMovie...

i am trying get a movie into Imovie so i can edit a bit but it won't let me import it...i am not getting an error message...its just not an option...it is grey on the list and i can't even select it...can any1 tell me why?

i am using a MacBook Pro: Mac OS X Version 10.6.2

There's your problem, iMovie cant work with .avi files. avi's are an annoying little file type that "packages" audio and video, so there are may variations of it. One .avi might work, while another won't. You'll have to download a converter like AVS Video Converter - a universal AVI to MPEG Converter, AVI to DVD Converter. in order for it to work.

i kind of had a feeling...only 1 AVI of mine worked...i picked up the pattern...thnx a bunch
