AVI to MPG?

Ive got a Samsung SC-DC164 Camcorder. File in AVI and i can hear the video clips just cant see it :S
Was thinking if i change the file it may help, anyone know a good AVI converter?
or anything else that could help, cause i like filming and right now the camcorder is kinda a waste right now which is something i really dont want

Just out of curiosity, do you have Perian ( Perian - The swiss-army knife of QuickTime components ) or Flip4Mac ( Windows Media® Components for QuickTime ) installed? It may help with playback.
Have you tried playback in VLC? ( VLC media player for Mac OS X )
Are you planning on editing this footage or just for viewing or what?
If you want to convert the avi file to a different container/codec, you can look into using:
