Streaming video online using Canon HV20I work at a church and we are currently preparing for the funeral of a prominent figure here in Oklahoma and need to prepare for an overflow during the service.
I am trying to figure out a way to stream the video of the service online using a Canon HV20 camcorder. I can open the camera in iMovie using firewire and see what I am filming on the screen. However, I cannot open the camera in iChat or Quicktime Broadcaster. The computer does not recognize it and gives me the iSight as my only option.
I would like to use justin.tv or ustream.tv but when I go there and attempt to broadcast, it does not recognize the camera.
Any ideas?

Do those tools support HDV? If the camera has the option, set it to standard definition mode and try it again.
