jitter effect?

I am looking for some plugin to iMovie or a open source program that allows me to work with that effect from pre-1980 TV, where there was a lot of 16mm work and the image seems to jitter a bit. The included "aged film" effect includes the jitter, but I don't want the exposure changed or scratched. Thanks for any help.

Hello rjmluke

iMovie 6 has the earthquake video effect. I don't know about other versions.

You can alter 'left' and 'right' jitter. Will that do the job?
