iMovie not recognizing and displaying iPhoto images

iMovie is suddenly not recognizing my iPhoto library. When I hit the photo section it shows Aperture library, Photo Booth, and iPhoto. When I hit iPhoto it gives me a spinning wheel and says "loading iPhoto images... but they never appear. Any thoughts.
