iDVD Burn Problems?

the original thread has been discussed in another thread so no reason to dup it.... so here's another question:

when i burn a DVD from iDVD and the menu does not work properly was this the fault of iDVD/DVD Burner or is it cheap media?

I made a few copies of the same DVD and one out of 5 did not work correctly in the menu section (actually the first one to be burned).

just wondering if its something I did or is it just the way it goes. I have my DVD burner daisy chained with my external hard drive...

Sounds like cheap media. If there were problems with the burn itself it would give you erros and probably not work

So bad media can be inconsistent like that? hmmm. I bought two 50 pack spindles from Staples on sale for $20 each. oh well.

is there a site where there are proven DVD-R's that work almost 100% of the time? My friend seems to like HP DVD-R's while another guy that I know that does a lot of video editing swears by Maxell and Verbatin i think...

Apple DVD's are actually Verbatim with Apple's logo on them and they get great results

It could also be that the background encoding wasn't quite finished the first time you burned, and if you were working at the same time you might have caused the disk to have not burned correctly. The second time round the encoding would have been finished and that might have helped the burn process somewhat...

Not sure if that's actually relevant, but it might be...
