I have this audio track that I want to upload to Youtube (it's my own original stuff, nothing illegal). I want to make this "video" with iMovie, you know the ones, where for the whole duration of the song it displays the artist and song name on a black background.

I can't get any further than adding the song to the project. All I can find are "import photos" and "import from video camera" etc. How can I just make a simple so-called "video" that just displays some text on a black background?

New Project.

Pick no theme.

Click on the "T" button which is to insert Text.

Look at the different ways you can layout the text.

Drag the one you want to the stage. The squares with the white dashes.

The rest should be pretty straight forward. >_>"

Yes, okay, I got the text there, still getting used to the "everything is a simple drag-and-drop interface".

Still, now I have a 4 second clip which displays the text and plays 4 seconds worth of the track. I can add more text, then it plays for 4 seconds more, but it's kind of tedious manually adding text 4 seconds at a time. How can I stretch this one to the whole duration of the song?

Mouse over the stage on the Thumbnail of the movie clip, and you should see a "gear" shaped button. Click on that and you can add more time, and or change the color of the bar/banner whatever you want to call it.

Okay, thanks, I got it now

Kind of embarrasing how I managed to miss all the obvious things I could've clicked and tinkered with.

Thanks
