I have been sent some video footage from a friend of mine. The dvd's arrived with folders on them but not individual clips. Im told to use Adobe Premier pro to open them or Winrar or winzip, none of which I have. Is there another way of opening these folders or is there a free download out there!

Please help!!

What format are the files? I'm a little perplexed as to how you can use either Adobe Premiere or a compression program to open them - they do two very different things.

This is the odd thing. I pop the disc in and a folder comes up, click it, then another, and another. I cant see the files but I can view them on VLC I can

is the folder named:

video_ts

or something else? If it's something else, it almost sounds like an avchd folder structure. Take a look here:

AVCHD - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

and scroll down to overview and look at the picture on the right, does that look like the folder hierarchy you're seeing?
