Hi all, I'm completely new to editing video...I think I did some minor editing on the PC several years ago, but I'm all Mac now.

I have iMovie '09, and have a video I recorded with Screenflow. I left space on about the left half of the screen so that I could either have text scroll up or "typed" out on that part of the screen. (I'm adding english translations to a video I recorded in German.)

The problem is, the only way I see to add text on screen is through the titles, but there doesn't seem to be a way to move the text to where I want it to be - there are only pre-defined areas.

Is there a way to have text scroll up that's NOT centered on screen, or a way to just add text where I want it?

Thanks!

I can't see an option for custom placing your text. This isn't a surprise since iMovie is not a professional tool.

I thought Screenflow had some text placement capability. See their demos page for the 'New' Overview demo of text capabilities.

When asking questions, post the version of your software. You'll receive better answers.

Please post your results to the thread as it is good feedback.

Hmm I didn't even consider Screenflow - I'm mainly just using it as a screen recording tool, and haven't gotten much deeper into it than that.

Thanks, I'll take a look

Screenflow has a pretty fully-featured editor that is ideal for the types of edits and effects you need for screencasts. I found it much easier than trying to trick iMovie into achieving similar results.
