I am new to editing on a Mac and I would like opions from those who are somewhat advanced but not necessarily pro's.
I recently purchased final cut express to make movies from videos but found it was not designed for still images. I would like opinions on software programs that are advanced from I photo that would work well, have a good varity of transitions and effects to transfer stills of old pictures into good quality dvd movies. I have used pinacle programs on a PC with some success but but had a great deal of trouble with crashes and lockups so i decided to go with the IMAC
I am open to those who are somewhat experienced so that Start out with a better program and less trouble. I am considering Apeture but I don't know it is the right way ro go.

Aperture is an advanced app for editing and managing your photos. It does not have the ability to create a movie from your photos.
iMovie 09, part of the new iLife 09 suite looks pretty slick for what you're wanting to do. Here's a short video on how to create a movie from your pictures with it. These can also then be imported into FCE.I cannot be held responsible for the things that come out of my mouth.
In the Windows world, most everything folks don't understand is called a virus.
