I edited together a project for school and I need it exported as an AVI video format....but in FCP while using Quicktime conversion the AVI video always comes out looking either pixilated or has an odd rippling effect during every motion. I got it too a setting that fixes these problems, but then the exported video won't be more than a 40sec bit

Maybe this discussion will help solve your problem.
QuickTime is available on Windows too, so why should you have to export to AVI. Other options are straight mpeg-4 or h.264.CameraTime - Time lapse photography for novice and advanced users.
