you need an ipod video converter

MPEG Streamclip Squared 5 - MPEG Streamclip video converter for Mac and Windows
isquint Download iSquint for Mac - iPod video conversion app. MacUpdate Mac Video Software Downloads
ffmpegx ffmpegX a DVD, SVCD, VCD, CVD, VOB, DivX, XviD, H.264, PSP, iPod, MP4, MOV, FLV encoder for Mac OSX

It would also be wise to download Perian so that quicktime can deal with more video codecs

Perian - The swiss-army knife of QuickTime® components
