I have a bunch of small movie files (some .mov, some mp4) that I can play in VLC but will not open in QuickTime - a message comes up that says they are not movie files. I'm trying to get them all into iTunes, and I've read that I should export them from QT first, so that's why I'm trying to get them in there.

Any suggestions?

firstly download Perian to see if it is a codec issue

Perian - The swiss-army knife of QuickTime® components

THen try a program like MPEG Streamclip to convert them to an itunes friendly format (it has presets for iTunes, iPod etc)

Squared 5 - MPEG Streamclip video converter for Mac and Windows
