I have a macbook pro and was told I could connect it to my Plasma and view movies, etc on my tv can someone tell me the easiest way to do it?

This largely depends on the connections available on your MacBook and on your plasma TV. Typically, you'd run a DVI cable from one to the other for video, and an adapter to split the audio from the headphone jack (audio out) into the red/white RCA cables. If you have the new MacBook, then you'll need a adapter to convert the mini Display Port to DVI. This is assuming your TV has a DVI port. Lacking specifics of what you have, an exact answer isn't forthcoming.
Please verify and include the exact model/year of your Mac and OS X version number (available from "About This Mac", then "More Info" on the Apple menu).
