Okay so I have numerous AVI files that I want to put onto DVDs and I cannot figure out a way to do it successfully!

First I tried to straight up put them into iDVD and that seemed to work. I put a few on, and they worked fine. THEN, i burned them to a dvd and there was no sound. (correction--the sound cuts out at 1:44??)

Next I tried to import them into iMovieHD, and it seemed to work; i planned to make them into MOV files and then back into iDVD. BUT the sound cut out AGAIN at 1:44!!

Is there an easier way to get these AVIs onto DVDs?? Or is there a SAFE and FREE way to convert them to a more comfortable file format for the mac?

Thanks,

D

Have you used Handbrake in ripping to your Mac, and thence to an optical disk using Disk Utility (or the Burn function in OS X itself - poss the same as DU)? .avi format is fine on Mac, if you use VLC player.

Thanks for the help, I used your first link and it told me I could convert them into .mov using codec doctor II and I am converting them all now...iDVD certainly shoudn't have a problem with mov files, so I think i should be okay here.

Thanks again,
