Sounds like you installed some third party codec. Maybe also try their forum. I would look at removing to first try to get iMovie exporting again.

It likely is in your top level drives /Library/QuickTime/ and has a name extension of component. Drag that to the trash. I'm guessing since I removed that crud when it gave me some issue with QuickTme. Yes you could say I wasn't impressed.
