hi, im new to this forum and to macs
i an imac and i've been pulling my hair out trying to burn a dvd from a avi format movie.
i have perian(sp?) and the actual avi plays fine in quicktime
it also plays fine in the preview on idvd
BUT after it burned and i opened it on the computer and on my home dvd player it played the opening credits then when the movie began i had audio and captions displaying but NO movie video
i noticed an .srt file associated with the avi ..are these my captions???

- im learning idvd doesnt work with avi but then why does it work on idvds preview?
- also will it work if i export it out of quicktime as a .mov?

any advise or input would be greatly helpful as trial and error is sooo time consuming

thx
L

It's another step to perform but I'd convert it to something more iDVD friendly like MPEG-2 using ffmpegx before taking it into iDVD.

External hard disk acquisition addict - but admitting the problem is the first step to a robust backup
