iPod Touch - New january software

Is the new software worth 20$ Has anyone bothered with it? Also once I get the software can I download more apps from the apple site or im limited to just whats on the ipod? I thin kits only the iphone that you can install more apps? Also what happens if I need to restore my ipod...Do I have to download and pay for the software again???

Well i have a jailbroken 1.1.3 with these apps.

Mail, Stocks and Weather i will probably never use. Maps and Notes come in handy. But i don't think i'd pay for these.
