Erm how do you tell if you have a 1st or 2nd generation iPod Nano?

Mine is Black & 4GB but that could be either 1st or 2nd, the Apple site doesnt really offer any other help on how to identify them.

It's just that I want to buy a case for mine and some of them only fit 2nd generation models so I want to make sure I buy the right one.

Does it have a plastic front piece with a shiny back, if so its a 1st gen. Ifs all aluminum and anodized black all around then its a 2nd gen.
