Mac Specs: Mac Mini 2.0 Ghz C2D, 2GB Ram, 160GB HDD

When i connect my new iPod nano 8gb to my mac mini, it goes just as normal, but then it disconnects itself, and therefore i can't charge it! Anyone had this happening before? Thx.
