iPod - ipod folder permissions

Hello, hopefully you can help!

In an effort to get parallels and XP to recognise my new ipod i (stupidly) disabled all the ownership and permissions in my Ipod. As a result neither XP or OSX will recognise the Ipod. Itunes starts up but not with the Ipod visable. All i want to do is restore the Ipod, but the centre/ menu button doesn't change anything.

Sorry to just turn up and ask the questions but im getting desperate!

if anyone's interested i erased the ipod in disk utility and it works fine...
