Is it at all possible to get an 8gb nano and a 4gn nano and swidtch their innards. I'd really like a 8gb blue nano......

I'd think so, the cases aren't any different in size, so that would imply that it would fit.

there should be a walkthrough for the nano on how to do something like that at ifixit.com. They sell parts too so you could pick up a case too.
