Organize by 'Album Artist'?

If I take a compilation of various artists, change the 'Artist' name to Various and then put the atrists real name in 'Album Artist', will that keep the compilation together in the library? But still maintain the artists integrity for the music they wrote?

Honestly I dont know if this has anything to do with what you are talking about, but I was trying to get a bunch of "promotional country CD's" that I got from local radio stations (through my internship for school) to be groupd as a compilation, like they were the same artist, without being listed as the same artist ( if that makes sense).... I dunno, if this isnt what your saying, then EVERYONE REGARD THIS

Mac Specs: IMAC 20"!! WOOH YEAH!! 2gb ram - 250gb hd 2.16ghz core 2 duo
I'd give them the artist name :

*compilation name*-*real artist name*

you could then widen the bars so you can see their names!

or you could have their artist names in the song title section? then the album name in their artist name section?

That "Album Artist" thingum only came out after I had organised a few thousands of my songs, including compilations. Or maybe I'm just slow in downloading updates from iTunes back then. :X

I usually sort them by albums, the artistes' names I put in song title before the title of the song. :X

Sample of what I tried:

Album - Best of Motown Disc 1
Song - Papa Was A Rolling Stone
Artist - Various Artist
Album Artist - The Temptations

Still seperates each artist with their song, not by Various Artist
