- Specs:
- Mac Pro 2.66 - 4 Gig Ram, iMac G5 2 Gig ram 20"
What i would do first before i did a reinstall of itunes is this:
1. Go to Mac hard drive and then- users/yourname/music/itunes/ and MOVE the file "itunes Library" to a safe place.
2. At the drop down on itunes "FILE" choose the function "IMPORT" and give it the path to where your music is and let it import your music again and see if that doesn't solve your problem.
It could be your library file got hosed for some reason, this would fix that. If you still have the problem then you might want to try a reinstall of itunes itself. Under FINDER type in itunes and delete everything it brings up except any music files of course... Then install itunes and do item #2
Hope this helps...Mac Pro Intel 2.66 - Quad Core - 16 Gigs Ram - 10.11.2 - 30" Apple Monitor

This is a known issue and has been widely reported on the Internet. Read more in this forum article:

I would imagine it won't be more than a day or two for a fix.Liquid and computers don't mix. It might seem simple, but we see an incredible amount of people post here about spills. Keep drinks and other liquids away from your expensive electronics!

****. That's what I get for not waiting until a fix is posted. I ended up rebuilding my library (could've sworn I'd backed up the old one, but I can't find it now). It's all good, except I've lost my playlists (which is primarily a bummer because I have two playlists I use for my iTMS wishlists, one for the US store and one for the Japan store. Now I've lost the list of what I was going to buy. I guess the upshot is I've saved myself about $50 and ¥4500!).

I figured out how to fix it last night before checking back to this thread:
HOW I FIXED THIS ON MY MACHINE:
In iTunes goto File/Export Library and save the library.xml file on your desktop.
Close iTunes.
Delete the 2 library files in the itunes folder.
Restart iTunes... your library will be empty.
Goto file/import and choose the library file you just created in step one.
Problem solved.
I also posted this on the apple board at the link cwa107 gave.

I can't even get my iTunes to open. I click on it and it bounces a couple of times and then does nothing.
this is exactly why I never do the updates. they fcuk up iTunes every single time.
now, how am I to fix this problem if I can't even get iTunes to open? should I just wait for another update?
ETA: just saw the Shapeshifter problem and that fixed it.i will rise up with fists!!

Solution....There is no need to rebuild your library.
Simply delete your video podcasts, and set in 'Preferences' podcasts download to manual. As a suggestion, avoid downloading any new vodcasts until the problem is fixed.
Otherwise, the podcast will get downloaded but won't show up in your library.
