I recently inherited a 3G iPod. My first woe was that for some reason it
wouldn't charge over USB as I had hoped. Then when I charged it over Firewire, the battery meter would be erratic, sometimes showing full, then after sleeping for ten minutes, showing empty but then running for hours. I knew iPod batteries degraded over time, so I bought a replacement battery, expecting to have a brilliant, 'nearly-new' iPod. But the battery problems seem to be the same, even with the new battery, and it still won't charge over USB. Is there any chance there could be something else wrong with my iPod, other than the battery? |

) I have all original cables, both firewire and USB; I've tried different ports on the same computer, different computers entirely, and even plugging it into the wall socket via a USB travel plug. It's a 3rd Gen iPod with the latest iTunes and the latest firmware. It's not a 'dealbreaker' that it won't charge over USB, albeit annoying. I'm just worried that I shelled out on a replacement battery that doesn't seem to have made much difference? I'm definately getting more life outta the thing in a single charge, but it's still really erratic.
