FIRST: I don't know if this has been posted - I've searched here and Google - but not really sure how to describe problem so not really sure what I'm looking for...
Let me explain: It took a while - but eventually I managed to get iTunes on my PC to be 'perfect' with about 95% of albums having full track listings - and all including artwork. I synced it with my new iPod earlier this week before finding out it would not work with my MacBook when that arrived later. I sorted this by just copying everything over the network to the macbook and then syncing the macbook with the ipod - but anyway to the point. Some of my albums (5% maybe) missing track info - this was not such a biggie on the PC but on the iPod it's quite irritating to find tracks when you have a selection listed like track 1, track 2 etc. So I used iEatBrainz to find the missing info - worked very well for most tracks - unfortuntely it has now broken my albums - so although the tracks say they belong to the same album each track has it's own cover in iTunes and it also looks like I have 30 copies of the same album - this is irritating me - is there an easy way I can make these tracks appear as one album again? Yes all that rambling was to reach this simple question: Is there a way I can make multiple tracks appear as a single album in iTunes? Any help much appreciated - I don't really want to have to transfer all of the music from it's original state on the PC - I'm trying to live with out the PC for as long as possible

This problem frustrated me also and has led to my less than favourable opinion of the new bells'n'whistles that come with iTunes7. Anyway that aside, I solved this by selecting all tracks from the album in Coverflow view (or whatever they call it) and do a massive Get Info on them. Next add the relevant tag info, add cover art, tick the relevant boxes then click OK. If there are any tracks that remain recalcitrant, remove any id tag info then repeat the above. It worked for me albeit it also turned me off iTunes7, but I hope it fixes your problem too, although you posted back that you had fixed it yourself. Did you already follow the above method or find another way? Oh, and thumbs up for iEatBrainz! Quote:

Yeah - thats pretty much what I did - It looked like a bigger job than it was
the little slider that you can move to see your albums in cover flow (or whatever) view was tiny - problem solved now - I was more irritated about the multiple albums appearing with a single song in each on the iPod - but problem solved now ![]() iEatBrainz is a clever piece of software - yeah it messed up some things for me - but that was prob user error rather than anything else - still would recommend it to others - it was still probably better than having to go through and provide tag info to each individual file. Thanks for the reply anyway. |
