The headphones that came with my gf's red nano are awesome, but I just picked up one of the new shuffles and they comes with the old style headphones? I _hated_ the old style headphones and have like 4 pairs laying around. Any suggestions for a good replacement?

How are the Nano's earphones any different from any other iPod out there? They all use the same set as far as I know.

The new Nano's come with a much headset than all previous ipods before them. The newer Video Ipods also come with them.

Old: http://store.apple.com/Catalog/US/Im...ew_m9128ga.jpg

Yes, they are different, and the product description of the new ones is dead on -- comfortable in your ears and 100x more tolerable than the originals that come with the _new_ shuffle. It's lame that I have to pay $30 for another set of apple headphones, when my shuffle was only $80, because they included the old stock in a _new_ ipod even though they admit the new ones that they put with every other ipod are better.

No, Apple released a newly designed headphone with the 5.5gen iPods and 2gen Nano's. They have a rubberized edge where they sit in your ear, and a slightely different shape.

Old on left, New on right.

punk, I don't believe he'll be interested in the Shure's, since they cost more than his actual player.

I use the $39 Apple headphones on Apple's website and love them, but you have to actually stick them inside your ear canal, which some people won't enjoy. They seriously quiet the outside world, though.

If you want a cheaper pair, I imagine Apple has the new-style headphones for sale on their site? The old ones used to be $29, I'm sure the new style would be about the same.

Wow... I never noticed the difference when I got my new iPod. Oh well, I don't use them anyway since I have a nicer pair of Sony earbuds I use.

Another vote for the shure e3c here, but Sony's E888 and E51/71 are also supposed to be pretty decent upgrades to the stock buds.

Or maybe consider the shure e2c?

Here's another vote for the Shure E2C earbuds. This is where I bought them-- great people to deal with.

I bought these to replace the Sony MDR-EX71 earbuds I bought a few years ago (now discontinued).

I bought the Shure 'phones a year ago and I've never looked back. In fact, I just bought a 5.5G iPod Video and the "new style" earbuds that came with it are staying in their sealed bag.
