Podcasts missing & iPod Update

I'm a recent switcher and have two questions.

1. My podcasts are no longer in the "Podcast" section in my iPod. Although I can see them in iTunes, I have to go through Music -> Genres -> Podcasts in order to listen to them. I canīt see my video podcasts either. Only audio.
2. When iTunes finishes the update, the red circle continues on my iPodīs screen. Is this normal? When I update in Windows, right after the update is completed, my iPod returns to the Menu...

Thanks for any advice you could give me.

Go to the 'podcasts' tab on the ipod screen in itunes (after you've plugged your ipod in).
Choose synch podcasts.

All should be sorted!
