Itunes library, deleting files

Hi Guys/Gals,

New to mac & Itunes. We (coworkers & i) are having an itunes debate,

if you delete a item (song, podcast, video, etc) form the library does the file still reside on the harddrive????????????? if so, where??????????

We understand that playlists can be edited, deleted, etc but these are references to files not the actual file.

Please provide direction

When you delete a song from the iTunes library, it will ask if you want to send it to the trash. Even if you say yes, it will remain on your hard drive until you empty the trash. As for where it will be located, if you have iTunes set to keep music organized it should be located in /Users/username/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music.
