Ive done a search and kinda got an answer to my question but not fully so Ill just ask again.
I have my Ipod sync'd to my current laptop (xp pro) however I have just ordered a Ibook. My Ipod is fully updated with ALL the songs that are on my laptop so will it just be a case of plug and play to tfr my songs to itunes on the mac? As in, if I hook up my ipod through the USB cable to the Ibook, will it then automatically open itunes and update it with all my songs on the Ipod?
I know I can connect the Laptop & mac via ethernet and drag and drop the folders like but its a bit of a pain and id have to go and buy a cable for this one task!

I would recommend getting an external hard drive just for backup! Assuming you have one, you can use it for transfer of the iTunes stuff. Just drag your WHOLE iTunes folder from your PC onto the drive. Hook up the drive to your iBook, and overwrite your ENTIRE Mac iTunes folder with the one from the hard drive. Restart iTunes on the Mac and all will be well.
Alternately, I understand that there is a utility called Senuti that will read everything off your iPod onto your Mac, but either way, you are hooking up a USB device to your iBook and transferring the files.
Since you really SHOULD have an external hard drive for backup, I recommend that approach.

I did it he old-fashioned way (just copied the iTunes dir from "My Documents" to my Mac and had no problems at all. It even made the setting changes on the mac for me (like defaulting to .mp3 for ripped CDs). I used a USB hard disk for the transfer.
Why don't you delete the contents or your iPod then enable disk use and copy your library from the music folder to it. Reverse the process on the iBook.
