i have been offered a 3g 15gb ipod for 120$. Do you think this is worth it. Will the battery life still be ok? Is it too outdated. What should i look out for? I have never owned an ipod before, is this a good investment?

i still have my 3g ipod along with my video. i love the 3g because the buttons glow. the 3g ipod is 2-3 years old but still a great product. the 15gb it has is plenty of space (at least 3000 songs). the battery might be a problem. it would cost another 100 for a new battery if it needs one. then you could probably just get a new ipod. but if the battery is good then its a goof product.

thats my opinion but i dont no if 120 is great price. you might want to look on ebay or ask others about the pricing.

if you have access to it then plug it in and charge it for four hours or so. then just play one continuous playlist with the backlight off. dont press any buttons or anything. being older it should play for at least 5 hours. new ones can supposdly play for 15 or so.

yeah $10 might not be too good. but also you need someone to put it in for you (usually apple store who charges quite a bit for the work). you can do it yourself but it involves prying off the metal backing and possibly breaking the ipod...

I think that price is a little high actually for a third generation iPod, depending on the condition...

Yeah, but I would only get the third gen for that price if I needed a HD for something like a PSP...

You could get a mini or nano used from someone for about the same price... But, I suppose if it's in SUPERB condition that's fair, but I was told once on another forum the most you can get for a third gen is like 75$ usd...

But for shipping, depending on where it's shipped from, that sounds good...

$120 is still high, even if shipping is included in that total.
A fair price for the 15GB 3G iPod is more like $50. That would make the shipping on that come to $70!!.
Even at $75 for the iPod, like BoA suggested, it would still make the shipping cost $45.... kinda high if you ask me. I have personally shipped much larger items than an iPod from PA to CA and only paid like $25 tops for shipping it.

If it were me, I would do your best to talk the price down.

120 isn't bad, but not a bargain either..
Especially considering that out of all iPods, the battery life was worst on the 3rd gen.

Personally, I'd shop around for an iPod with color screen (iPod photo). They can be had for not much more and have better battery life, photo import options and the nicer colour screen.
