i was wondering if its possible to delete all the songs on my itunes, and still be able to keep them in the ipod. it seemss useless to me to have songs both on my powerbook and on the ipod. so is there any way in which i can just have them on my ipod and not have them erase when i update it?

you would have to manually manage the songs. Go to ipod preferences and check manual update unstead of auto. This way you have to drag your new songs onto the ipod urself.

No. You can't move songs off of the iPod and onto your Mac unless you get a 3rd party program (Apple didn't want people copying music from their buddy's computer and then putting it back on their own).
A good app to do this with is Senuti. I'd use Windows... but I like the Mac OS more. |

Rememeber to back up your songs either on cd's dvd's or an external hd. incase something happens to your ipod you will not have your songs any more if they are not anywhere else but your ipod.
