Hi,
I have a 15G, 3rd generation iPod that I bought over 2 years ago. I have taken excellent care of it. One day, when I was listening to an album, I tried to switch to a different album, only to find that the little lock in the upper corner was on, even though the hold switch was turned off. I tried all the usual stuff of holding down the play and menu buttons at the same time, switching the hold switch back and fourth, etc. It's been a few months now and I have tried to get Apple to help but without AppleCare I am out of luck. If I wanted to get it fixed, it would be pointless because a new iPod costs less. I am at my wit's end here and am about to attempt to open the thing up myself and see if there is a loose connection or something. Does anyone know what to do about this problem? If not, is there and easy way to open the iPod without destroying it? Thanks! |

WOW I have the same exact ipod as you and I had the same exact problem, I got so mad. Then one day I realized one side of the silver metal was sticking out a bit so I pressed it against my floor, it clicked back in, and hold suddenly went off. For you this also could be the result of firmware, what version do you use?
I've had to re-format my ipod about 4 times because of firmware problems mostly on the early versions, when I moved up to 2.3 most of the problems stopped. |
