I use quicktime pro to convert vido files for my ipod. But it seems that whenver i convert an mpg no audio comes along through the conversion. I think its because of the way the video file was originally composed but I dont know. Most of the clips I download are funny ones I see all over the internet. Is there a way to maybe export the audio, nd then export the video and fix it in final cut or something?

That's because the mpeg is "muxed" or the audio and video are in the same channel and Quicktime doesn't know how to export that. What you can do is use a program to split off the audio then in Quicktime Pro, import that audio track back into the movie (of in Final Cut) and play around with making sure the audio is synced up and it will work.

Honestly though I think that's just an insane amount of work and I would wait a little bit before doing that on a large scale. I'll be shocked if we don't start seeing iPod Video exporter programs pop-up.

Another alternative is to use FFmpegX. Export it as H264 or MPEG4 and then open it in Quicktime Pro and export it for iPod. Two time consuming steps, but it might be easier than syncing the audio back up in the first way. Currently only Quicktime Pro can export H264 that's compatible with the iPod for some reason, but I know the others are working on it so it will be one step in the future.
