Ipod Mini Firewire confusion!

I'm thinking of buying an ipod mini. My Mac only has USB 1.0 ports, and so will be wanting [and needing!] to use my firewire ports for an ipod.

Does the actual ipod mini have a firewire port on it, or do I need to buy a dock?...and do If I do need a dock, will a standard firewire cable fit, or do I need a special ipod cable?

The iPod mini has a dock connector on the bottom, which is a proprietary Apple connection. Your mini will come with a cable to connect the iPod to a USB port.

If you wish to connect your iPod to a firewire port, you'll need to buy a firewire-to-dock connector cable from Apple, for about $25.

So will that cable go straight from ipod to imac, or do I need to buy a dock as well?

It will go straight from iPod to iMac, yes, you can buy a dock but it is not really needed.
