Hi

Would anyone be able to tell me have Apple changed this model, so that it no longer charges on a Bose original dock? - and why would they do that?

Thank you in advance of any advice or guidance with this.

Kind regards

The connection is the same as the outgoing iPod Touch 3rd Gen. Pretty sure it will be fine.

It was changed at least 3 years ago - maybe close to 4 now.

The issue was the original devices would charge via both the FW and USB pins inside the device. Apple told the 3rd party manufacturers to use the USB pins, but many of them decided to use the FW pins instead - including Bose. Then, when Apple changed the devices so they would only charge via the USB pins, well, you know the story.

You want your Bose I to work for charging, you'll need an adapter. Scosche makes one and I think you can still get it in black or white. Here it is at Amazon.

I cannot be held responsible for the things that come out of my mouth.

Good to know Bob, thanks. Rogue manufacturers choosing something different to be awkward, the bane of all tech fans.

If you decide instead that you want a good speaker dock to replace that Bose, I highly recommend the Klipsch iGroove. It works perfectly well with my wife's iPhone 4 and has great sound... one of the best in this class. Kicks the nuts off Bose, which quite frankly is way overpriced and overhyped.
